Entertainment journalist Susannah Gora is the author of "You Couldn't Ignore Me If You Tried: The Brat Pack, John Hughes, And Their Impact on a Generation," published by Random House/Crown. Through interviews with the key players from that era, the book covers the history behind and sociological impact of the great 1980's teen movies, including classic John Hughes youth films such as "The Breakfast Club."Gora has written for outlets including The Washington Post, Elle, AOL, The Huffington Post, Woman’s Day, Variety, The Food Network Magazine, Popular Mechanics, Every Day With Rachael Ray, The American Academy of Neurology's "Neurology Now," MTV.com, Martha Stewart Weddings, and Premiere–The Movie Magazine, where Gora was Associate Editor.
Over the years, her hundreds of interviewees have included such actors as George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Harrison Ford, Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Jackman, Julianne Moore, Anne Hathaway, Scarlett Johansson, Denzel Washington, Michelle Williams, Jane Fonda, and Anthony Hopkins. Additionally, Gora has served as a Duke University Expert in Residence, in conjunction with Duke's Department of Film Studies.
Susannah Gora has appeared on national television networks such as NBC, VH1, MTV, CNBC, E!, Bravo, The Fox News Channel and CNN Headline News to discuss entertainment news, pop culture, and lifestyle trends. Gora is also the host and writer of “Classics on Film,” a DVD series produced by Penguin Books which covers classic novels that have been made into great films. The “Classics on Film” series is available at bookstores everywhere and has been broadcast over 125 college television stations across the U.S. Additionally, Gora gave movie reviews in a weekly segment on the Associated Press’s national “All News Radio” network for over three years, reaching two million listeners per broadcast.
Gora has worked for ABC Television, interned for CBS News, NY1 News, and Brillstein-Grey Entertainment, and spent a summer studying filmmaking at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. She graduated cum laude with High Distinction in English from Duke University in 1999, where she was the recipient of the E. Blake Byrne Scholarship for excellence in creative writing. Susannah Gora is a member of The Author’s Guild, and she is included in Marquis’ “Who’s Who in America” and “Who’s Who in Emerging Leaders.”
Gora resides in Manhattan, where she was born and raised.
